The objectives of the Program are to build a sense of team among CSMFO members, improve professional advancementopportunities, and offer a fuller understanding of everything CSMFOoffers itsmembers.These objectivesareaccomplished by bringing a diversegroup ofmembers fromacrossthe State togethertonetwork with each other.
Anticipated topics include networking, career path planning, tools for improving your relationship with your City Manager/General Manager,hottopicsrelevantfinance professionals,and ways toget moresatisfaction outof your personal and professionalaccomplishments.
But most importantly, it will be an opportunity to meet other finance professionals throughout California and (hopefully) make meaningful connections!
The program runs from May to February, with meetings once a month, lasting 60 minutes via Zoom. In addition totimespent in themonthly meeting,Memberswillhaveabout 1 hour ofassignments each month.Participants willneed a private space toattend the Zoommeetingswith their cameras and microphonesturned on. Applicantsshould have their supervisor’ssupport priortoapplying tothe program. TheCohortProgram is organized and lead by priorCohortparticipantswhovolunteertoarrange topicsand speakers. Therefore,by applying forthe CohortProgram you are making a commitmenttomakeevery effort toattend allmeetings and completeallassigned tasks.
Ideal applicants would like to grow their professional network, gain a greater understanding of relationships within government,learn moreabout CSMFO,and mostimportantly:have fun!Thereisnoprescribed years of experienceor position levelrequired to participatein theProgram,buthaving a mindset thatfocuses on growth and relationshipsis helpfulto getthemost out of this program.Themoreyou engagetheCohort,themore you willget out ofit!
